ERP Defined

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is both software and processes. Many people think it is only software. But without understanding the underlying business processes, ERP software will not provide the optimum benefits.

ERP is an enterprise-wide set of management tools used in the endeavor of balancing supply and demand within a company. It can link both suppliers and customers and create a supply chain. This will only happen when the software that runs the business is in concert with the business processes. ERP systems provide deep functionality and tight integration between business functions. This can include financial, sales, procurement, manufacturing, inventory management, quality management, product design and human resources.
