blackberry made it required to get a data plan with the blackberry. this used to only be a requirement for verizon, but now it is for all carriers. i tried to get a pearl without a plan but was charged anyway.

i really want this phone, but i just bought a nokia luna 8600 a year ago for 500 bucks.. do u think it is useless to buy a blackberry bold if you don't sign for the internet... i dont use plan.. only top up =(

Its probably a missed call, voicemail, some type of missed msg.
Its an alert light most likely.
