Look up "hallucigenia" on Google image search, Greg Bear based Jarts on this fossil, or rather the early (wrong) upside-down interpretation when it was thought to have walked on it's spines.

I kinda liked that the third place one pushed up the timeline a little to take advantage of recent events. Makes it that much scarier.
